Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of Benjamin (the "Service"), an AI-assisted proofreading tool for scientific documents. By signing in or using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. What the Service does
Benjamin proofreads scientific documents (LaTeX projects, Word .docx, plain text, Markdown and RTF) and returns a corrected copy plus a tracked-changes version. Paid plans add proofreading of inline math; proofreading of display equations is a planned feature. Corrections are generated with the help of an AI model (Google Gemini) and are presented as tracked suggestions that you accept or reject (see §6).
2. Your account
- You sign in with Google or with a one-time link sent to your email address. We use your email address to identify your account, apply your plan and usage limits, and contact you about the Service.
- You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe it has been used without your permission.
3. Your documents
- You keep ownership of the documents you upload and of the corrected output.
- You grant us a limited licence to process your documents only to provide the Service to you.
- You confirm that you have the right to upload each document and to have it processed by our AI provider, Google (Gemini API).
- How documents are handled and retained is described in our Privacy Policy.
4. Plans, payment and cancellation
- The Free plan includes one document per month up to 2,500 words. Paid plans (Pro, Max) are subscriptions billed monthly or annually at the price shown on the pricing page, including any applicable taxes.
- Payments are processed by our payment partners (Dodo Payments; Razorpay in India). We do not see or store your full card details.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, and is not renewed after that.
4a. Refunds
- First purchase: a full refund if you ask within 7 days of your first payment and have proofread fewer than 2,500 words (the Free plan's monthly allowance). Purchases made before 11 October 2026 keep the earlier 5,000-word condition.
- Annual renewal: a full refund if you ask within 7 days of the renewal charge and have not used the Service since the renewal.
- Charged in error (for example a duplicate charge): always refunded.
- Otherwise payments are non-refundable and partial periods are not refunded, except where the law requires it.
- To request a refund, write to contact@scicoagent.com from your account email. Refunds go back to the original payment method, usually within 5–10 business days.
- Word allowances are monthly: they reset on the 1st of each calendar month (UTC), and unused words do not roll over to the next month.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- upload content you do not own or are not authorised to submit;
- use the Service for unlawful content or to infringe the rights of others;
- attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer or gain unauthorised access to the Service, or resell it without our permission.

The Service is provided on an "as available" basis. We may add, change, suspend or discontinue features, and set usage limits by plan. We will give reasonable notice of material changes to paid plans.
8. No warranty
The Service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of results.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Service or its output. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. The effective date above shows the current version; continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
