Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Benjamin collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Google we receive your email address, display name and profile picture URL; when you sign in with email we receive only your email address, to which we send a one-time sign-in link and code. We use this information only to authenticate you and associate your proofreading runs and plan with your account.
- Documents you upload. The files you submit for proofreading and the corrected output.
- Usage and billing records. Your plan, word counts used, and subscription status. Payment details are handled by our payment partners (Dodo Payments, Razorpay); we never see your full card number.
2. How your documents are processed
- To proofread a document, its text is sent to our AI model provider, Google (Gemini API), for processing. Google's handling of that text is governed by the Gemini API Terms.
- Documents are processed transiently to produce your results. They are held only in temporary server storage while your run and download are available, are not kept in a database, and are removed automatically, at the latest when the server restarts.
- Your documents are not sold, not shared with other users, and not used by us to train any model.
- Please do not upload material you are not permitted to share with a cloud AI provider (for example embargoed, classified or regulated personal data).
3. How we use information
- to provide the Service, apply plan limits and process subscriptions;
- to contact you about your account, billing or important changes;
- to keep the Service secure and fix problems.
4. Authors of public arXiv papers
As a demonstration of the Service, we may proofread papers that are publicly available on arXiv and send one email to the author addresses published in the paper, with the suggested corrections attached. We store only the address and the date it was contacted, so that nobody is contacted twice. Reply "unsubscribe" or write to us and we will never contact that address again.
5. Cookies and local storage
We store your sign-in session token in your browser's local storage; it expires after 30 days. We do not use advertising cookies.
6. Sharing
We share information only with the service providers needed to run Benjamin: Google (sign-in and the Gemini API), Supabase (account and subscription records), our email delivery provider (sign-in emails), Hugging Face (application hosting), and our payment partners. We do not sell personal information.
7. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your account information at any time by writing to contact@scicoagent.com. Deleting your account removes your account and usage records, except billing records we must keep by law.
8. Google API data
Gmail. Benjamin's outreach tool uses the Gmail API scope gmail.send only on the Benjamin team's own Gmail account, to send the one-time author emails described in §4 after a team member approves each one. It can only send messages: it does not read, list, modify or delete any email, it never accesses any user's or recipient's Gmail account, and no Gmail data is stored or shared.
Benjamin's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
9. Changes
We may update this policy; the effective date above shows the current version.
