Benjamin proofreads LaTeX (a .tex file or a zipped .zip project), Microsoft Word (.docx), plain text (.txt), Markdown (.md), and rich text (.rtf). The format is detected automatically, with no setup required.

Why doesn't Benjamin accept PDF files?

A PDF has to be converted before it can be edited, and that conversion routinely scrambles equations, symbols, and layout — which would corrupt the proofreading. Benjamin works on your source file instead, so every correction lands exactly where it belongs.

How is Benjamin different from Grammarly?

Grammarly checks general English. Benjamin reads with scientific context: it understands units, equations, notation, and terminology, and flags the errors a generic grammar checker misses, such as A versus Å or a flipped sign. It's the Betternative built for research writing.
